How are ya doin' on ma pages? Well, guess this is the hardest part..try to introduce myself..BTW sorry for taking a used piece of paper. :-)

As you already know, my name is Marina Janko, for friends also Mare. My name - Marina - comes from Latin and means "the queen of the sea" and about my family name - Janko - I'm still investigating. I was born on May 29, 1975, at 10:20 AM in Pula, Istra, Croatia. That makes me a Gemini with asc in Leo (air + fire = diabolic). So, I'm... errr... 21 already... time just flies.

EDUCATION. I finished the elementary school of "Savo Vukelic" (today's "Jurja Dobrile") in 1989, the secondary school of "Zvane Crnja", natural sciences, mathematics and informatics in 1993, both in my hometown Rovinj where I've been living since my birth. This is my 4^th year in Varazdin 'cause I study there at Faculty of Organization and Informatics, FOI. I plan to graduate till July 1998. At the faculty I also met with AIESEC - a students' organization - and I got involved in many projects. This year I'm also a NDT (National Development Team) member.

WORK. I've been working at many places till now: in a restaurant, in a pizzeria, in an aperitive bar, in a photo and video atelieur, on a sightseeing boat, at a swimming pool... Now, when I'm in Varazdin, I work as an interpreter of the Italian and English languages for several firms... and this summer I worked in the Informatics' department of "Jadran-turist"Rovinj, d.d. This could also be my fix job once finished my studies, but who knows. Have a better offer?

COMPUTERS. My first encounter with a computer was in 1988 and it was love at once. I continued to play more with maths and chemistry (with very good results for 5 years) than with computers 'cause I had no real possibilities for that. When I entered the university I won a scholarship so I bought my first computer - one of the MISIML (most important steps in my life). When talking about OS' I use MsDos, Unix and CTOS, and not to forget Linux (thnx to Dobrica who installed it for me). As for prog. languages I learned Basic first (well, who didn't?), then Pascal (what a pleasure it was to make games), Cobol (I thought it wasn't worth learning it but this summer I needed it at the "Jadran-turist"); I'm learning C++ and... As for graphics, I use some app's but not as good as I would like to. I'm most interested in information systems development (that's my study-subject). At the faculty I also met with expert systems and got interested in the possible implementation of them (robotics and everyday life). I'm also interested in any kind of networks and am convinced that they, combined with other technologies, are our future. ..I had tried BBSing and it was cool..I had tried Internet and, as some people say, I became addicted..

SPORT. I like sports very much, especially volleyball, beachvolley, basketball, handball, atletics and water-sports. I used to run on long distances such as 5 and 10 km and have two very good results (a second and a first regional place in 1987) but had to quit because of a problem in my left knee bone. After that I played my favourite volleyball and from the beginning of my studies I'm practicing fitness. I enjoy bike riding, specially in nice nature.

FRIENDSHIPS. I always wanted to know all the world, to visit many places, to travell. Since it's impossible to travel everywhere I used a trick, I started to know people from all over the world and visit places through their eyes and words. First, in 1987 I discovered the IPF (International PenFriends) - a world-wide organization that makes people meet through letters, then I discovered a similar thing on Internet: Cyberfriends thanx to which I made a lot interesting friends. Now when I know a lot of people from all over the world I have only to find some money and start traveling, wanna come?

LIKE. Summer, sea, seagulls, my cat Gustaf, traveling, Rovinj, music (grange, rock, metal), SF, fantasy, computers, sincere people, friends, oranges, coffee without sugar, pancakes, fish, fishing, bike riding, swimming, driving, rowing, Harley-Davidson Motors, photography, mineralogy, parties, red wine, dark blue and black colours, nature...

DISLAKE. Boredom, sleeping, war, lies, unresponsibiliy, selfishness, salt, sugar, snowing more than 2 days, snakes...

DETAILS. I'm vegetarian. I wear shoes no. 42 so I often have problems to find the kind of shoo I'm looking for. That doesn't mean I'm tall, in fact I'm 1,70 cm. I like crazy shoes and crazy everyday things. My eyes are of the color of the recordable CD - as a friend of mine use to say. Piramides simply afacinate me. Well, details are details so find 'em out by yourself, it will be more interesting, right?
