Sequential Circuits (SCI) Six-Trak is a scaled down version of the legendary Prophet series of synthesizers, with improved MIDI implementation. It has six-voice polyphony gained by six VCOs, which makes this synth comparable to Roland Juno series. However, besides the usual six voice polyphonic mode and the unison mode for playing all the voices at once (here called the "stack" mode), the Six-Trak is also a 6-part multi-timbral synth, allowing that each voice plays a different sound on a different MIDI channel.
On the Six-Trak you will find everything you expect from a nice, basic analog synth. Excellent four-pole analog filters (VCF) with a dedicated ADSR envelope, and another envelope
for the VCA, will enable for the classic analog sounds. The programming has to be made by assigning parameters to an editing knob. Not a convenient solution, but it can be remedied by the use of some computer software tools to control the Six-Trak over MIDI system exclusive messages. Once made, the sound program (patch) can be stored in one of a hundred memory locations.
So, with just a few roundabouts, in the Six-Trak you get a synth with a great basic sound, a lot of parameters, and all that for only a fraction of money needed for its great brothers from the Sequential family (send your email). (The picture is gratefully taken from Vintage Synth Explorer)
